| Kshs 6 million scholarship scheme by Shah Ranmal Raja Charitable Trust |
|
The Shah Ranmal Raja Charitable Trust (SRRCT) presented a cheque of KShs 750,000 to the University on Friday 20th August. This was the first installment of a four-year scholarship scheme worth Kshs 6 million that will sponsor four students in the newly launched degrees of Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications and Bachelor of Science in Informatics in the Faculty of Information Technology.
According to one of the trustees, Mrs Smita Kamal Shah, the Trust chose to support scholarships at the University because of its reputation of offering quality education.
One of the goals of the University’s development campaign is to increase the number of students on financial support. The support from SRRCT is quite timely as it came in when the University was increasing its enrollment capacity through the Phase III expansion.
The support is also in line with the University’s vision of making a significant contribution to the cultural, economicand social well-being of the country. This is achieved, among other things, by enhancing access to needy and academically gifted students. Strathmore is very grateful tothe Trust for its support.
The beneficiaries of the scheme are Ogubi Josephine Namenya, Olima Lindsay Gaddafi, Mutisya Rodgers Akorot, and Mwangi Kelvin Kinyua.
